Opal
When hot liquid Silica Mineral (=Quartz) crystallises very slowly and cools down over a long period of time, Opal can be formed underground (and in laboratory as well). Many kinds of natural Opals and Opalites are suitable for jewelry and highly valued: the Ethiopian Opal from the location Welo as well as Peruvian Opal from the Andes and the world-famous australian Opal.
A shiny alternative to the iridescent color of natural opal is called SI-Opal or Silica-Opal-Drusy. It is possible to metal-coat natural gemstones like quartz crystals with a hint of metal such as Silica to create a shiny iridescent and very durable bond.
